These cheesesteak pinwheels are the perfect game day appetizer! They are ridiculously yummy and easy to throw together, plus they lean into some help from the grocery store with canned biscuits (I promise you won’t be able to tell!). To lighten the load on game day I recommend that you sauté your steak and veggies the day before, so they have time to cool completely. Now rolling these up on game day will be a whiz!
Ingredients
- 1 can Grands Biscuits
- 1 6 oz bag shredded mozzarella
- 1 -12 oz pkg shaved steak or beef
- 1 Yellow Onion, small dice
- 1 Red Pepper, small dice
- 1 Green Pepper, small dice
- Season with salt and pepper
- *** serve with cheez whiz and/or ranch for dipping!
Directions
Season the shaved beef with salt and pepper and in 2 tbsp olive oil sear over high heat, until caramelized and golden. Remove from pan and set aside until all meat is caramelized.
Add 2 tbsp olive oil to pan and sauté the peppers and onions until they are tender and they begin to pick up color. I like to take them until they all have a bit of singe on them. This adds to the “cheesesteaky flavor”. About 7-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool completely, adding to the cooked shaved beef.
Once cooled, or the next day – add the mozzarella.
Roll out a biscuit until it is a 3x4 inch square and about an 1/8 inch thick. Place your filling mix all over the biscuit, leaving a ½ inch to pinch and make a seal at the end. Roll up as if you are making a pinwheel or cigar. Make sure to pinch the seam in the back. I was able to get 3 pieces cut out of each rolled biscuit “cigar”.
Place directly next to each other on a parchment lined baking sheet, pressing them down and flattening them with the palm of your hand so they are a consistent height. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 – 20 minutes or until golden brown.
