The Dirty Slut Brownie

Since it is super bowl weekend and we are a Chiefs household I wanted to add a Kansas inspired dessert to the menu. As I was looking up the “dessert of Kansas” the 2 things that kept coming up were the Peffernusse cookie ((WTH?!) tiny dime sized German spiced cookies) and the Kanas City Dirt Cake (the Classic Pudding base topped with crushed Oreos and Gummy worms). These options left me feeling a little uninspired and underwhelmed and they certainly did not give me Superbowl vibes, so I decided to wish the Peffernusse farewell until the Holiday season where they are more appropriately placed and instead decided to make a Kansas City Dirt Cake inspired dessert worthy of the Superbowl. I was also inspired by a recent trip to Miami where I ate a peanut butter ice cream that smacked! It was soo good I’ve been thinking about it ever since. The secret weapon of the ice cream was chunky Nutter Butter cookies that were running through it. When the Nutter butter hydrated in the ice cream some sort of peanut butter magic happened and extreme deliciousness occurred. The Nutter Butter brought a distinct and pronounced peanut butter flavor and the crushed cookies took on an awesome texture.

Pudding is not my go to type of dessert because it is usually pretty one dimensional in both flavor and texture (sorry to all you pudding lovers out there), so I knew I wanted to bring some different textures to the party and also some of that Miami Nutter Butter magic. I began thinking about other desserts with similar ingredients which brought me to the Slutty Brownie (a brownie baked on a peanut butter cookie with Oreos in the batter). I loved the idea of the brownie base and topping it with the Nutter butter that would turn magical when covered in a thin layer of dirt cake pudding. Of course, no dirt cake inspired dessert would be complete without the requisite Oreo crumb topping (with a pleasant addition of salt in the crumb) and a gummy worm. Thus, I give you the Dirty Slut. The unofficial dessert of the Superbowl.
